artist statement:

This piece is deeply related to the overall theme of the art show. The inspiration for this piece was how the past year and pandemic affected me personally. Each color represents a feeling, related to color theory. The deep blue gradient background represents the outside world during 2021, the world felt cold and lonely, but as if it was beginning to slowly heal. The bright intense colors over me represent different feelings and experiences that affected me this year. The most prominent color present, pink, represents new love, orange tints represent new joy and enthusiasm, and ice blue tones represent a number of things that range from past hurt to softness and tranquility. Lastly, the final color shown in this piece is green, this green represents growth. This piece can be understood as color is used to represent experiences, feelings, and emotions all felt in the past year.
