flowers

artist statement:

This piece is a self-portrait inspired by my grandmother.  Gratefulness fulfills me whenever I think about her and what she has done for me; from raising me when I was young to being a consistent supporter of my work, I wanted to honor her and her sacrifices.  The photograph is of myself has my face partially covered, in order to reflect my self-consciousness and my struggle with this piece.  The flowers are to represent not only the garden that my grandmother kept while raising me, but the idea of self-growth
