artist statement:

This mixed media piece is based on a song called “Pearl” by Mitski. The story is based on someone recovering from a toxic relationship, unable to let herself accept the much healthier love of their new partner. I wanted my piece to signify a panic attack due to these circumstances. This piece shows a cross-legged person who is leaning on their hand with tears streaming down the face. I knew I wanted a black background to represent the void. The hands are shaking to represent the actions emotions.
