artist statement:

For a long time in my life, I have felt isolated. Through my piece, I tried to express that feeling. The polaroids represent the pictures in my mind of moments that I felt separate. It's me, alone, with very saturated pictures of the sunset. I think I achieved a feeling of self while also showing loneliness in the way that I wanted to. I think quarantine had a great effect on my feeling of isolation, and it taught me that I don't need other people in order to establish who I am myself. Through my piece, I also tried to show that isolation can be beautiful. The sunsets are things I looked upon by myself and were able to feel like a part of life and they made me feel important. I think this translates well in my piece and I hope others are able to relate.
