artist statement:
Throughout my artwork, I greatly value my process. This mindset of focusing on the creation of my work and reflecting on myself, led me toward printmaking as a medium. Color is another aspect of creating art that has greatly inspired me. Color has always been an easy and straightforward way to express emotions and the complexity that can often be behind them. In my most recent piece, I again rely on color to show further emotion and depth. Anytime I incorporate printmaking and meaningful colors in a piece, it’s made by reflection and exploration of my life and feelings at the time, which is why I thought it would be a great fit for an exhibition around the theme of self-identity. My piece Lost in the Flowers, brings focus to a blue face surrounded by pink flowers, signifying the struggles a person can face even when the world around them seems to be progressing forward.
