artist statement:

My art is my outlet to express overwhelming thoughts or emotions when I feel words are unable to capture. This messy ink-drawn piece shows a screaming person as a representation of myself. They are trapped in their own mind as if it’s a prison holding them captive. Out of fear of being a burden, they bottle and invalidate their negative feelings and emotions until they’re alone. They’re grabbing, poking, and scratching at their own face out of exhaustion of masking the stress, anxiety, and depression that they deal with. There is a certain silence to their screams, as no one notices they’re drowning in the negativity that builds up inside.
