artist statement:

Carry On is a song that truly reflects its title. When sitting down at the piano to write this song all I had in mind was the title of this exhibit, “I am…”. In the midst of my self-reflection however, I couldn’t stop thinking about struggle and perseverance. It is those feelings that I originally wanted to capture. As I was writing and examining my own struggles though, the overwhelming thought of how not alone I really was kept sneaking in. And so this song was formed. It is about that struggle and perseverance, but also about strength and support. I hope that you enjoy it.
