The McCoy Art Gallery at Merrimack College was becoming a more prominent space for artists in the area, and wanted to create their own identity within the College and the surrounding community.

The block shape reflects the large glass doors which belong to the gallery space. On the doors are large handles that span almost the entire vertical length of the glass. I created that iconic identifier of the gallery into the shape of an M, which can be both understood as the M for McCoy or Merrimack. In regards to Merrimack requirements, it follows the College’s branding guidelines by color and typeface (Gotham font).

The logo is now used throughout the gallery’s branding, on various posters for their space as well as their social media accounts.
