artist statement:

This piece is a self-portrait I created while taking a graphic design course in my sophomore year of high school. It was featured in an art show at Essex Art Studio in Lawrence, MA in 2016. The portrait is indicative of self-reflection and self-acceptance. It accentuates what I personally view as imperfections, and encourages realistic portrayals. Having my face displayed in a realistic, untouched-up depiction promotes freedom and challenges beauty standards in portraiture.
