artist statement:

Throughout my life, but especially during the pandemic, I’ve been looking for ways to focus on positivity. One of the ways has been through art, both studying and creating it. My self-portrait, inspired by an untitled 1958 work by Andy Warhol, is a representation of both of these hobbies. I was able to use an artwork that interested me to create something that I felt really represented my state of mind at the time. Despite the struggles and pressures that I have faced in the past few years, I have tried to remain as joyful as possible. Working on this portrait not only helped me express myself and spend time on something positive, it gave me something that I could really be proud of.
