austin hall chapel banner designs
The Chapel of the Mother of Good Council in Austin Hall at Merrimack College had recently gone through renovations, and found themselves with little to no color or decoration in the room. The head friar came to the Graphic Design department and commissioned us to design banners that could possibly be hung in the Chapel to bring it to life.

I designed six banners off of the saints that the friar wanted to feature:
Saint Monica of Thagaste
Saint Thomas of Villanova
Saint Nicholas of Tolentino
Saint Clare of Montefalco
Saint Rita of Cascia
Blessed Stephen Bellesini
My solution was to create the banners in a fashion that relates to the geometric feel of the room, while also standing out on their own. Each banner features iconography that relates towards the Holy Figure, either who they are or what they achieved in their life. The backgrounds are various geometric shapes and patterns, colored from the various hues found in the icon on the banner. The gold outline resembles the nimbus that most, if not all, holy figures are painted adorning throughout art history.
These designs were later commissioned by Merrimack, and will be hung in a rotation throughout the school year.
